Fernando Herrera

FERNANDO HERRERA:

Texas House of Representatives, District 148

Fernando Herrera is the conservative candidate for Texas State Representative in District 148, which includes the Heights area.  Fernando grew up in the district, and has experience as a public servant (firefighter & current HFD Deputy Chief), civic leader, former small business owner, and dedicated family man.  Fernando favors shrinking government, reducing taxes and deficits, securing our borders, and improving educational quality & outcomes.

Fernando’s opponent, incumbent Jessica Farrar, is considered one of the most liberal-voting members of the Texas legislature.  Farrar voted with taxpayers only 20% of the time, according to the most recent (2009) Empower Texans “Fiscal Responsibility Index”.    Her rating on the 2007 Index was 9.09%.  Young Conservatives of Texas rated Farrar just 7 out of 100 in 2009 (100 being the most conservative), and a 0 – THE most liberal – in 2007.

State elections are vital this year!  With a slim margin in the Texas House, it’s imperative to gain as many conservative seats as possible, in order to pass important legislation and have an impact on the Congressional redistricting that will take place following the census.  YOU decide which candidate is most likely to support policies consistent with conservative Tea Party values, then do ALL you can to support that candidate with your time, talent and money.
